Today could not have gone better!!!

I'm too tired to go into too many details, but I felt I owed you all an update!

I can say that we hit every single nail on the head! It couldn't have gone better... Senator Harry Reid's son, Rory was in the back of the room listening to our testimony. I wish he'd tell his dad. I've been writing to Harry Reid about our story for over a year. Trust me, I've written anyone who'll listen. We need changes!

The Senator that submitted this bill (he agreed to draft and submit this bill after we testified in August) sent us an e~mail telling us how great we did. He agreed that our story needs to be told. Funny thing, he's a conservative Republican (as we are) trying to do the right thing. It's never easy to introduce legislation requiring expanding the government and spending money. He sure did stick up for us middle class folks, though. I was very proud.

I ended up getting all emotional (shocker) ... and then so did Mike (bigger shocker.) We managed to keep it together though.

A local news had a cameraman there videotaping our testimony ... and might be on the news tomorrow. This news anchor has been following Matthew since before he came home from the hospital. They love him.

This whole experience was quite emotional for Mike and I ... because we know that if we run out of insurance again... we are screwed. It is absolutely true that we have no decent options in this state. The state can't deny it.

After listening to the bean counters and some others ... it sure doesn't look good for the Family Opportunity Act being passed ... or even a high-pool in the future ... for sure no Medically Needy Program! It's just like my testimony says, "Yeah, that's so sad... hum.... but it costs too much money."

What amazes me is that other states do these things .... why not this state? This is a rich state and to me there is no reason why we can't have a "safety net" for the middle class when you run out of insurance.

Well, we'll know by the 13th if it passes.

Oh, Casey's house finally "recorded" today ... five days after it was supposed to "record. " Had it been after tomorrow, he would have lost his lock in on the rates.
Thank Godfrey!!

Yea! I'm glad it went well..

The majority of legislators in the government right now want total dependence on the system. I know it stinks.. There's know help for the ones who really can't help themselves, but for the ones who won't, look out! They'll pay your rent, buy your food, give you insurance, and meanwhile you can blow what money you get on an exspensive car you don't need and loads of toys! All for the low low cost of poppin' out a baby per year!

I knew you and Mike would do a great job! I really wish you had more people there to speak up with you. Do you have any idea how many middle-class families are either uninsurable or have run out of insurance? I bet they would try harder to pass the bill if you had a lot of families speaking up. At any rate, you and Mike are heroes in my opinion! I hope they do a huge segment on the news about you guys and show Matthew's smiling face.

I'm hoping that we 'might' catch something on CNN about your testimonies but I doubt it. CNN (or MSNBC) doesn't report much of anything except the natural disasters that the President has caused. (wacky, wacky!)

So glad that all went well. Keep us updated!!

Mike will be posting the audio of our testimony on Matthew's blog next week...(there was a little distortion in our voices, I sounded like I had a huge speech impediment.)

it was live via webcast on the computer...

We are heading up to Beaver!

Enjoy your Easter everybunny!!

I feel so proud of you for not just taking care of your fragile boy, but also taking it to the streets so that others might wake up to reality.

Glad it went well ... I just don't understand it .. our health system (well at least our Medicare system that covers every one)is a Commonwealth or whole of government system and not different from state to state.

I would go one step further Terri and say .. why shouldn't the safety net apply to every person? Anyone reaching the safety net is obviously not in a good way.

Hope you have a great Easter

Tim

Hey Timmy...
I belive I did say in the beginning of my testimony that there should be a "safety net" for ALL families... the poor are already taken care of...

Even a well to do person can't afford these kiddo's...
only Bill Gates, Warren Buffett or Donald Trump could pay these medical costs w/o insurance.

We were on the local news here on Thursday evening at 4pm and 6pm..

keeping the pressure on these guys ...

KVBC used the portion that the legislators was most embarrassed about... it was great.

Will know by the 13th if this bill passed or failed the Senate.
