Wow, now this REALLY takes the cake!

My friend Kathy, is staying at a Ronald McDonald house up in Palo Alto while her baby Isaac is recovering at LPCH @ Stanford. Now, RMH is a GREAT place and it is AFFORDABLE while you're stuck living away from home. Hotels up there can run from $175 and more a night ... RMH is about $10 to $15 a night, plus they offer a shuttle to hospital every 30 minutes. RMH is truly a Godsend!

But DANG, this is what she posted last night on her blog:

Oh my gosh....one more crazy thing happened today. Well, last night. I went into our cabinets (we have our own here at RMH and they are labeled) to get some cookies. Someone has stolen my brownies, cookies, loaf of bread, and peanut butter. Can you believe that?? I mean...there's not ONE crumb left on that shelf! What a stinker!!! I hope they really needed the food (I would have just donated my food if they were that hungry)...but, imagine my face when I look and the cupboards are BARE!
WHAT A CRAZY DAY!!!

This just shocks me so much!! When you are at RMH, you are "in it" together w/ these other parents. No one wants to be there in the first place. I simply can not imagine someone stealing all your food during such a stressful time. RUDE!

People like that really piss me off in a big way... When we were in the Ronald MacDonald House attached to guys, one family of immigrants - who, fair enough, had a very sick baby - but as usual, they took what they were given and stretched it...

They left their kids in the house playroom all the time- which they destroyed and eventually, me and the manager stripped it.

They broke the large TV in the great room while playing soccer.

They had their dozen or more relations come in, after hours so there was no one on reception, so they could use the bathrooms and kitchens. They TRASHED the place.

It was awful. I hate your friend is going through this.

Dan! OMG I saw the same type of thing happen ... but it happened in the "family rooms" at the hospitals. Drove me up a wall!

That is a SHAME. Of course RMH would have given them food if they needed it that bad. Oh my goodness.

You can never overestimate the depths to which people will stoop.

Actually,

Debbie reminded me of something...
they have a community refrigerator

and then on the counter .. there is usually lots of goodies sitting around that people can have...

and different groups of people donate dinners...
like McDonalds and the ladies of the LDS church....

there is always food....

there really was NO excuse...
someone was just a thief!

I'm with in_spired. It's downright sad that someone would do that. Karma is really going to wreak havoc with the thief.

P.S. The comment you left (clittly litter) was THE FUNNIEST thing I've read in a looooong time!

That's awful! What a surprise that must have been to find her cupboards bare - especially in a place like that! Grr.

I'm doing A LOT of catch up reading .... are you building a house? I know, I have been slacking BIG time with my blog reading.
