Well well....

Update to my Oct. 4th post
I spent a good portion of the day today on the phone with Apria Home Health care (and my insurance company) re: the $2443 a month payment on Matthew's feeding supplies. I was originally told, "That's what the agreement is with your insurance company". I asked for the supervisor name and number ... called her and left a lengthy message questioning the price difference.

Guess what ... they've been billing us wrong ... it should be a grand total of $849.60 ...
not $2443. They need to credit our insurance about $1593. for each month of the over billing.

*shaking my head*

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!

I have caught so many crazy billing errors ... I can't even remember them all ... I think I've saved our insurance company about $10,000 in the past two and a half years, not counting this latest one... and not including a HUGE Stanford overcharge...

we called for an audit on our original Stanford bills... and yep, they had overbilled by $130,000

I can only imagine that A LOT of billing errors goes un~noticed....

Everyone should treat their health insurance like a saving plan...ESPECIALLY if there is a lifetime cap.

And one has to wonder, would they have eventually owned up to the over billing and refunded your Insurance Company? Me thinks not! Good on you for keeping them honest.

Your family is a perfect example of the NEED for health care reform. Companies involved in the business are out of control and they could care less about their "mistakes" because there is zippo accountability. Have a fine Vegas evening.

Wait ... let me correct myself -- the insurance company didn't bill you, the health care provider did.

That happens a LOT. And I think they make a great deal of money on it.

WOW. That's amazing. The amount of stupidity in the medical billing world is mind boggling. Glad you've gotten it straightened out though!

The Insurance company should have caught it ... trying not to be cynical, but maybe the insurance company doesn't care, they are going to end up paying the cap anyway, so what if it comes sooner. Good job watching out.

holy cow. i am so glad you caught this before it got too far gone. who knows what the insurance company and provide would have tried then. my experience is they would probably both start accusing you of wrong doing. i hate health insurance. i love canada for this reason.
