Happy Heart Day, Magoo!
Today is a special day... It was 2 years ago today that Matthew had his lifesaving 9 hour heart surgery by Dr. Frank Hanley. His was the most complicated surgery Dr. Hanley performs ... a Unifocalization. Dr. Hanley pioneered and developed this procedure ~ we are blessed to have had him as our pediatric heart surgeon! (both times..)
It's a like second birthday for Matthew .... his second chance at life. 
The man with miracle hands, our hero. He is able to do surgery on little hearts the size of a walnut. This guy would stroll down the halls of Stanford in his scrubs and sportscoat. My sister Kim and I would just go "GA GA" over him. We could swear we heard angels voices when he walked by... and he always, always had a halo over his head.

THANK GOD FOR DR.HANLEY. PLUS MATTHEW IS A FIGHTER . IT STILL AMAZES ME HOW CHEERFUL MATTHEW SEEMS TO BE AFTER ALL HE HAS BEEN THROUGH.

When I hear people glorify and worship celebrites *rolls eyes* ... sports figures... etc... I simply don't get it ...
who are they ??? ~ compared to people like Dr. Hanley and other healthcare providers.
We just watched in awe ... for monthh.... the miracles these people perform... they are the true heroes.....(of course along w/ police and firefighters)
going thru this kind of experience sure gives you a different perspective !!

I understand-we totally have a hero worship for the social worker at LDS Family Services who moved heaven and earth when we got called ten days before Eliza was born to be told we had been picked by Amanda. We hadn't even started to fill out the paperwork to become birth parents-but he pulled off the miracle for us! Of course we also have a hero worship for Amanda!

You are right...it seems so silly to hear of sports figures idolized, when people like Dr. Hanley are the real heroes. Those heart surgeons do important stuff!

A Very Happy Birthday to all of you. Isn't it amazing that when surgeons are given their choice of specialties ... some pick cosmetic surgery? Not putting down plastic surgeons, but there are only so many burn victims and cleft pallets out there ... most would rather have the money than the amazing feeling they could get by saving a life ... so sad.
You may be right. This outstanding Dr. Hanley may indeed be an angel.
Thankfully he was there when you and your family needed him.
