Drawing of Matthew's heart

A heart transplant surgeon up at Stanford (Dr. Aziz) sketched this picture of Matthew's heart.

You can clearly see (in the center) the "new pulmonary artery" that Dr. Frank Hanley made for Matthew using cadaver tissue. You can even see the little stitches. Right above his new pulmonary artery, Dr. Hanley bound together those four collateral arteries and made them one.

It's no wonder this was a 9 hour surgery. Dr. Hanley amazes me, he is truly a miracle worker.
He is a true hero of the world... saving hundreds of critically sick babies a year.

You people have sick, sick minds! All I saw was a heart and the repairs made until I read the comments. ROFL!

Ditto what Nancy said!

By the way, I read Walk on Water - and Dr. Hanley is all in that book! Sounds like he is a great doctor!

Jenni,
I'm going to go check out that book! Thank you for mentioning it..

I am NOT surprised that Dr. Hanley would be in a book called
Walk on Water!!

I swear.. when I would see him in the hallway at Stanford... I could just hear the angels singing and he would have a "glow" around him.

I would just stare at him in awe... I would look at his hands and his eyes and just be amazed...
and trust me...
after Matthew's surgeries..
I would hug that man ... no handshakes here...a big ole bear hug!

Well....in our family we've had a heart valve replacement from a pig, not from a human.

And, it was my Papa, not my baby.

So...I have NO idea how you feel. I work in a hospital...so I think I have some idea of the ups & downs of it all...

We'll be praying for you & Matthew's heart! (bizarro drawing & all....)

:)
