My heart is breaking ...

My son Casey just took our little 20 year old cat, Petie to the vet.

It was "time."

I am soooo sad... :-( :-( :-(

OH Sweetie. I'm am so sorry. As an annoyed owner of a disgruntled and otherwise pissy cat that I've had for 14 years I can so understand. I love that pain in the ass like you wouldn't believe. Your kitty probably had a better demeanor than mine, but I'm still going to go give my kitty a big smooch because I'm sure glad I have her. And I'd be so sad if I didn't.

Hang in there, sugar. Thinking of you!!!! =( And sending E-hugs.

oh, I was just looking at that picture of Petie--you posted it recently...well it is best to go via the vet than lying around in pain. I was just talking to a 9 year old boy about his very old, sick, heavily medicated cat, and I said you must be extra nice to him since he has one paw in the grave. The boy looked very thoughtful, and said "He's been sick for a whole year, maybe he has two or three paws in the grave"

Terri, that's so sad. I'm so sorry to hear this. Losing a pet, especially one you've had for so long, is very, very tough.

Hugs and kisses my sweet friend.

I am sure hoping the go to Heaven... it's the only thing helping me...I'm just crushed... even today.. you can't have a cat in your life for 20 years and NOT MISS THE HECK OUT OF THEM....
I keep remembering all the cute things about Petie Cat.....

I hate this ... it truly makes me not want any more dogs or cats again...
that's part of why we started going "parrots" 5 years ago...
we know they will outlive us by 30 or 40 years....
well... we hope!!!!

But then.. I couldn't imagine life w/o a dog or cat!!!
I wish animals lived longer....

I sure hope they go to Heaven...
my husband says no....
but then all the sweet people I've been crying to says YES...
I think I'll think YES!!

Terri, Girl!

We know your heartache!! We had a black lab....Max, that we had to have 'put to sleep'. He had developed diabetes and blindness. We gave him insulin shots twice a day for over a year but he finally got down and we couldn't get him up. We had him creamated and his ashes are in an urn right by our bed.

Since then, we've had a Beagle added to our household...3 months old when we got him and he is now 6 years old. We love him dearly...but, we still miss Max.

Golly...I hope M is wrong about pets being in Heaven. But just in case he isn't, I'm sure that God has a very special place for these beloved pets.

Terri,
I am so sorry to hear that! I remember when we lost our cat I had when I was growing up......it was just like a member of the family! Of course, you did not want him to suffer!

Hang in there!

Do you want my dog?

Been there and done that.

We had to put down both of our retired racing hounds... it was heartbreaking.

You hang in there.

Oh what a terrible feeling :-( We had to do the same with our cat just a few days after Christmas, almost five years ago. She had a cancerous tumor that came back after having it removed and ended up being in excrutiating pain. We still talk about our lovable Bubba from time to time and miss her terribly.

Thinking of you . . .

((((big hugs)))) to you Terri. I believe that our animals will meet us in heaven. Isn't heaven a place where we will be happy and our pets make us happy, right? Isn't there something in the bible about the lion and the lamb shall lie down together as friends?

Anyway, I'm sorry about Petie but how nice that you had your cat for so long. I still miss the dog my family had when I was growing up. He was a german shephard. He kept all my secrets safe. :-)

((hugs))

I'm very sorry Terri. We've only had our cats for a year and I know I would be really upset if anything happened to them. I can't imagine 20 years.

I'm so sorry about your cat. My eldest cat is 17 or 18, and I wonder when he'll go. I know I'll be devastated when he does ...

We still talk about our cat who went to the vet and never came back. If we had known that it was going to be her last trip we might not have taken the kids. It is tough and I feel for you, but it will pass and you will come to recall just the good times.
