Beaver Blog Cabin
There will be a "witch's hat" over the octagonal section of the house. We've decided on a basic hunter green roof b/c we have a hunter green steel building across the way.
There will be a wrap around deck w/ covered porch from the left side around the entire back. You can see the footers in place. Unfortunately, the concrete guy messed up and those footers need to be buried 31"... so they will all have to be moved come spring before we put up the deck.
.
There will be a balcony on the second level ... a door will come off my sisters room and a door from the upstairs hallway. The view is spectacular.
Looking up from the back corner of the house.
Yes, this is what it looks like. We have two leaks in the basement where the "walls blew" while they were pouring. We are not happy ... and neither is the inspector. The concrete guy will have to come back out and put up some kind of sticky tape on the outside walls. In the front (under the front door) is a nasty looking "honeycomb" area... it is structurally sound, but now it's leaking. Just one of the little joys of building a cabin. Thankfully, our inspector watches out for us and is sure to get things fixed when they're not right.

stinks about the leak, but wow it's looking awesome!
as a contruction pro, I think you have a jewel of a project in the making :)
It is starting to look like a home! Bummer about the leaks, but I am sure they can and will be fixed.. you have to expect small hiccups in construction mate.
If the concrete guy had worried as much about putting sufficient nails in the framing, the blowout would have never occurred. He lives in the area and yet he still did not bury the footings for the porch deep enough. He surely didn't loses any time asking for his money.
Thanks to the Building Inspector and his watchful eye, the concrete guy will need to revisit the site for "double the work". Isn't it wonderful that a "license" speaks a million words.
There is no double in my mind with Michael, Tim and Craig on top of this, it will be fixed satisfactorily. Way to go, Guy!
Yes, mom brings up a good point.
We paid our concrete guy 2/3rd of his money UP FRONT... and every single time he came to us asking for more (even though he wasn't finished) ... we gave it to him...
We are sorely disappointed that he treated us the way he did...
we are so happy that Tim was there to babysit him and TRY to keep him honest ... he still does not know how we feel yet...
we want him to fix his mistakes first ... and then I'm going to let him know how I feel. He blew it with us.
Glad for the inspector... and so glad to watch the rising of a home...
It looks wonderful,Terry...
It makes me tingle...
Leak or not.....the cabin is looking FANTASTIC!!!!
Wow, things are really looking good.
That's fantastic. They have done a great job.
I'm sure the leak will be fixed.
