So, what do ya think? We used Natural Cedar stain.

Looking into the mudroom from the entry way. I must say that Tim sure had his work cut out for him. This entry way/mudroom was very very complicated. There was a lot going on and he had to spend so much time making sure it could all work out. He then had to be sure to somehow to connect it properly to the octagonal kitchen area ..... trust me ... he spent hours trying to figure it all out in his head before he started making cuts and setting beams/tung and groove. The stairwell be on the right side of the mudroom. We thank God everyday that we have Tim to build our dream home.

Someeeeeeday there will be a 2 or 3 car garage w/ an "in law's" quarter hooked right up to that mudroom. That will look sooo totally awesome. We can't wait for that. Then mom and dad can come stay in their own little corner.

The porch is going to look so cool. Mike will have rounded stairs going up to the deck.

We are going up tomorrow for 3 days ...

Mike is planning to start staining the logs on the outside.

In the next two weeks, Timmy is going to work on the window buckings and start putting in the windows.

It does seem to be slow going, but remember, it's only Tim and Mike putting it up ...

and Mike isn't up there but 3 to 4 days a week.

Besides, we're really not in a rush... as long as we get our water rights extended!!

Won't be too long before the roof goes on. Once the entire house is stained, the roof will go up.

We picked a cocoa brown roof and then Mike is going to stain the window buckings a dark walnut. That should look real nice. We've been torn between the standard evergreen roof or a cocoa brown.... Mike is really wanting brown. Me, I'm a Libra and can't make up my mind....

Apparently it will take MONTHS caulking the outside and inside.

Not too sure when we'll be able to start the decking ... the concrete guy still needs to come and move those 12 footers around the house. They did not pass code back in November (they need to be buried 31 inches) and we are having some trouble getting him up there to fix his mistake. THAT IS A WHOLE NUTHER STORY!!

Mike narrowly missed cutting his finger off with a skillsaw ...... a little wake up call. YIKES! Thank goodness Timmy was there to care for his finger, I wanted to throw up looking at it. In the end..... it wasn't too too bad.... just a little deep.... but it's looking good now.

Mike washing/cleaning the logs... applying a bug and fungus treatment in preparation for the stain. Mom asked me why Mike was so far from the cabin...the reason is because the ramp to the basement is on that side. He had to move the scaffolding a few times. I have some great action pics of Timmy working his magic w/ his chain saw, but it's on the other camera. I will post some pics soon.

*LOL* What can I say ... there are six kids and three adults living in this house. Not including when we stay for a few days!!! It's quite fun at their house. Never a dull moment at the Baxter's!!!

Toodles working his magic on the entry way. Again, this guy is amazing w/ the chainsaw!!!

Mike has started "cleaning" the logs on the outside w/ Messmer's cleaner, preparing for the beautiful stain we picked out. We ordered Messmer's UV Plus Natural Cedar for our cabin ~ we received THE GREATEST MOST EXCEPTIONAL help from a gentleman named Charlie at Messmer's. This stain will be good for our cabin logs AND the deck. We are thrilled about that.

Our windows came in a week or so ago. Things are starting to really take shape. After the staining and getting the winders in, we will start the roof.

Once the roof is up, we'll (they'll) work on the loft and decking.

We just got home from spending three beautiful days in Beaver. The boys worked on the mudroom beams ~ it's looking magnificent. Soon, they'll be working on the entry way. It's coming right along, we're so excited. Again, we are blessed to have Timmy in charge of building our cabin, he is amazingly smart and conscientious. We could have not asked for a better "busy Beaver cabin builder"!!!!

The windows and doors have all been ordered and should be there in the next month or so.

The log stain and caulking have been ordered, too.

Someday, when we are able to complete the cabin w/the garage butt'd up to the mudroom, it will be even more AWESOME.

It was so cute. After a hard long day for the boys, they'd come home to eat dinner and end the day playing "You're a Rock Star" (or something like that) on their PlayStation.

Mike, Tim & Tanji would be on the drums, guitar and singing to head banging rock music.

Tanji was usually the singer! I have the funniest pictures I will post later.

Matthew's Blog: Casey having his heart procedure today

Update: I just got home ... it's 4:15pm. Well, the surgeon was not able to get the results he wanted. He and another surgeon spent 2 1/2 hours working on him. That's all I know for now. We are disappointed. It sounded to me as if this is just something he'll just live with. Before the surgery, he did say the node was in a tricky spot. When the nurse came out after an hour and a half, she said "it" was being a "real booger". Will know more later. Casey is doing fine, just very nauseated ~ poor kid.

I'm leaving the house at 6:30 to go over to Sunrise. Hopefully we have better luck this time than we did in December. I worry as much for my 25 yr old as I do my 3 yr old! I woke up at 3am worrying. I'm sure it'll all be fine, but I still worry ... I think any time you mess with the ole ticker... there are risks. I'll be back w/ an update. Please say a little prayer and cross your fingers for a successful outcome.
