Fox News was the only major national TV outlet that carried a live telecast of former President Bush's homecoming speech to cheering supporters in Midland, Texas.

Glenn Beck on Fox News saluted President George W. Bush with these heartfelt words:

"Mr. President, on the darkest day, you gave us hope when we were hopeless.

You were unafraid when we were terrified.

You led when nobody else wanted to.

Mr. President, you don't have any idea what you meant to me personally and my family right after 9-11.

Job well done, good and faithful servant.

Thanks."

Mr. President, I cannot myself say it better. I echo Glenn's sentiments.
Thank you and God bless you for keeping us safe.
More Americans love and are grateful to you than you realize.

If you come to Susannah's blog, there is a beautiful tribute to Bush from Time Magazine:

I wish I could have seen it. I dont' get FOX. i was sad at how disrespectful people were to him yesterday. He does not take 100% blame - I still don't get why congress gets no blame. I blogged on this today -but warning, you may not like what I said. I was not trying to be offensive to anyone, just being honest.

President Bush also has my gratitude for keeping us safe in our homes. He doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Good post! So many people forget he has kept us safe from another terrorist attack these past 8 years.

I wish President Bush and Laura nothing but the best. She was the best first lady, and he was a good president who put the American people first. The Congress fought him every step of the way for four solid years; yet remain blameless. Mankind is so unjust. History will show all the good Bush accomplished in 8 years and shame on all those who disrespected him yesterday. God bless President Bush, a faithful servant.

I like Pres. Bush. He did what needed to be done when others where afraid. It should be about doing what is right not a popularity contest.

I echo those words, too.

I watched the re-run on C-SPAN this morning. It was so moving, and the people were so welcoming.

What a contrast to the people in D.C. booing him when he walked to his seat at the inauguration.

The Libs will never know what a class act he has been and is.

I don't think that liberals have a full understanding of what could have been if President Bush was not in office after 911. I no longer feel safe now that Obama is in office.

I missed that Glen Beck show. It's been difficult for me to watch Fox News, or any other news station since Obama took office the other day. I have never in my life been so affected by a new President coming into office like Obama. I can't understand how is fist executive order was to help the poor terrorists. The first thing he should have done was something positive for the American people, not the terrorists. I wish we had a strong Republican leader to get out there and re-establish canservative values. This far left liberalism can potentially turn this country backwards to the point where we can't bounce back. It'll be too late, too much damage done.

Excellent post, Terri. My friend sent me a link (which I posted on my blog) to a photographic essay done by the Time Mag. folks who covered the White House the past 8 yrs. It's great & a fitting tribute. Thanks so much for posting Glen Beck's words. I love that guy!
